more dumb newbie questions

Ok, this is all kind of backwards to how I should have done things... I bought a 9mm steyr 1912 at an auction. Only to realize after that 9mm steyr was its own breed. So then at a gun show I bought a RCBS 3 die set. I have bought some fiocchi ammo to start with so I have the proper brass. (after I empty them first:D)
Anyways, What are my press options? Is there a starter kit that would work with these dies? Im told some dies will interchange across brands of reloader? I plan on eventually reloading a number of other more commen calibers also, But this all started because I bought an oddball gun.
 
Any of the standard presses will take these RCBS dies. Lee, RCBS, Lyman, etc. The choice is yours for brand, price, etc. You could also check on the Equipment Exchange to see if there are any used presses. Most of the companies make starter kits, so check on their websites, or check on-line for Canadian stores such as Wholesale Sports, Cabela's, Bass Pro, etc.
 
Thank you... think I'll find something new just to make sure I get it right the first time. Seen stuff at auctions, but I honestly dont know what im looking at. If its all there.... etc..
 
Yes, most presses will work for you, Lee, Hornady, RCBS, etc

For a starter kit get a press, powder measure, powder scale, priming tool (My Lee primes on the press, but Lee makes a great priming tool too.)

Make sure you have a shell holder for your brass size as well, sometimes these come with the dies, sometimes not.

Also buy a reloading manual, this is a MUST!!!

There are lots of other tools and gadgets, but that will at least get ya started.

All good advice, but I'm not sure what modern manual includes the 9mm Steyr. You definitely need good, reliable reloading data and I wouldn't be keen on extrapolating from other 9mm rounds. Maybe something is available from Europe?

Anyway, take a look over the trigger. If there is a Nazi-style eagle, yours may well be chambered for 9mm Parabellum, which would be much easier all-round. Germany bought a bunch of them in 9 x 19.
 
Nope, Its a Chilean one... I definitely am going to follow the manual. I am also going to start my own notebook to keep track of everything. I think I will start by getting a die for a more common load. I'll tackle the Steyr when I have a bit more knowledge. Thanks for the help....
