The rifle in your pics has the wrong stock, and would have been the "sporter" version of the EAL rifle.

Military versions had 5 round magazines, tangential three leaf rear sights, mounted in a dovetail on the barrel and a sporter style stock with red color Jostam marked butt pads.

Wheaty could tell you a lot more about it. I believe they could be special ordered in just about any configuration they had parts available for

First thing i said was it has the wrong stocks on it. Along its life path im sure all the rest got changed. It has the correct markings on the barrel so im sure it never has been changed. Rear site is in the correct spot but also is the wrong one most likely

The rear sight is correct for an early EAL. The side drilling is correct for a PH mount - forget which one. I'd do a little more digging before getting rid of the stocks, there was a fair number of changes despite the relatively low production.

I have one of the side mount sites for it .... someplace . Being as early a number as it is it could very well be all correct. However ive not seen one without the joshtam ? Antiflinch butt pads

after doing a bit of reading, other than the stocks, it is a classic type A EAL rifle. including the 4-6 rear site, and the 10 round mag

for anyone thats interested. just add back the tt

Those aren't the wrong stocks. That is a type A EAL. They used military butt on the first thousand or so. I owned number 1031, had identical wood. Except mine had the Jostam recoil pad. Its a super low EAL, could be the real deal. Wouldn't advise you to do anything with it. Check out images online, you will see what I mean. Type A had reworked miltary wood, battle peep sight, 10 round mag, Type B has purpose built pistol grip and forend, battle sights and 10 round mag, Type C had purpose built sporter wood, 5 round flush mag, two leaf sight on barrel ahead of Knox form.
