Came today. The same rifle Lorax is showing. I'm very pleased so far. I saw it Friday and stewed for a day and a half and bought it.

I was a little worried when the box arrived like this:

Not TSE's fault but that of the baboons who work for Canada Post. A little of the finish was lost of of the charging handle and the rear sights. Not serious for me since this will be a shooter not a display piece.

The only sad part. This was the display Garand and didn't have the en-bloc in it and TSE forgot to send it. They have made good immediately and are shipping it tomorrow and I have nothing but praise for them and their service. BUT --- I'd like to play this weekend, so if anyone in the Sundre/Cremona/Water Valley area has an en-bloc they'd loan, rent or sell, please PM me.:) I'll let you shoot it.

I can honestly say that is one of the best looking Milsurp rifle I have ever seen. Got acouple questions tho because I know nothing about these..... How well do they shoot? what kind of ammo does it fire?, Whats an en-bloc? and if you dont mind a price range?

SJEMAC..... once again beautiful rifle!

Beautiful rifle man!

The craftsmanship and design that goes into these rifles is amazing. You just do not see it on modern guns anymore.

If I lived closer to you, I would lend you an En-block, but location is not on your side today. :(

Worst comes to worst, you can still single feed the rifle. Just do not let the bolt slam without the clip in, due to the free floating firing pin. Bad things can happen!

Do yourself a favour. Get at least 5 Enblocks, preferably more, and get 8 dummy rounds so that you can fill a clip and get used to the operation of the gun. That is the best way to discover how to best avoid getting Garand thumb. It is not somthing you want to learn the hard way.

This thread makes me want to bring mine out of the safe and fondle it for a while! ;)

I hope to get one soon....

how much is ammo for that beast?

Depends what you shoot out of it. Cheap Remington UMC is $17.00/20 rounds at bulk prices from Epps the last time I was in. That equates to about 85 cents per shot. Stuff like Hornady comes in at $40.00 / 20 rounds, and in my rifle at least, there is no noticable increase in groupings.

So ammos is not dirt cheap, but still a lot cheaper then a lot of other stuff out there. I am sure you can find it cheaper, but around Toronto, thats as low as I have found.

If you reload, you should be able to get that down to 40 cents per shot.

The Garand fires 30-06 rifle ammunition, although some have been modified to fire 308 win. 30-06 is a good solid round.

An En-bloc is the flexible metal clip for the M1 Garand. It holds 8 rounds and is inserted into the gun while the bolt is open. The clip is ejected out of the gun after the last shot is fired, with a wonderful "PING" noise. (Take a look at the vid at bottom. I did it in my basement... a little dry, but gives you a good idea of how the 1911 and M1 Garand functions. You can skip to about 1:30 to get to the Garand)

This is an En-Block:

Prices start at around 800 and up for a reasonably good rifle. They can go up to $2-3000 for National match competition models, and over $10,000 for all original and matching rifles from the war.

The M1 Garand can be a terrific shooter! I am very new to milsurp guns, and I was able to get a 1-1.5" grouping at 100 meters with factory ammo.

The ones TSE are selling they had built for them in 7.62x51. They are listed at $1399 on their website.

thanks for all the help and explain the rifle to me, the video was great Kevin M., now i think i should start saving up for one!

I have a few extra enblocs if you need some. Just make sure I'm not violating any gun laws by shipping to Canada. They are going for about a dollar now, here in the States, but I got some a few years ago for about $0.45 each. Let me know.
