More Modern CZ858 Bayonets?

So basically, we all know we get a knife bayonet along with a bunch of other goodies when we purchase one of these rifles. I was examining the bayonet and it seems like a sturdy piece but the metal seems like it can be questioned. Doesn't look like it can get a nice sharp edge, nor does it look like it can hold a sharp edge either. I know you shouldn't be sharpening bayonet, but I would like to know if there are any newer more modern bayonets made out of harder steel that have a good sharp blade on the bottom side. The knife would obviously be stored in a knife holster and be primarily used for your basic camp stuff. Instead of bringing a number of knives, it would be nice to have this one knife as your main knife with the additional option as a bayonet if bringing the rifle. Anybody make these?

It will take an edge but it still look the same. There is more modern knife/bayonet made by Mikov for Czech Army but it costs $180.00, it is too expensive. I made suggestion to Neit Arms to make an AK Bayonet attachment for CZ 858. Ak Bayonet fits CZ but it needs attachment. Neit said they may make one in the future

I don't know if there's any other model of knife sold for the 858.

But I work with the stainless steel and I can make a custom knife with the shape that you'd like.

Would be a nice project :)

Check what I've done with mine

I have considered making a bayonet for a 858, cannibalizing the attatchment hardware of one of the pitiful examples given with the rifle.

The reason the bayonets suck is because it is against the hague convention to sharpen bayonets. Doing so would make you a war criminal. And wasting time and energy to make decent steel for bayonets which cannot be sharpened is pointless.

What complete and utter nonsense. This ranks up there with the falsehood that .50 cal is unlawful for use on personnel.

Have you even read the Hague Conventions?

Yep. I've hit people with 25mm... Don't worry, you're ok sharpening your bayo.

There is a new(aftermarket maybe?) bayo for the VZ that I have seen. I just don't know how available it is.

Why the need for a bayo anyways.? Gonna poke @ some rice vats.? Charge a deer with it? I care not for a bayo unless it can function as a knife as well.

what a stupid first post.. :jerkit:

sa58.cz has them but the price is scary and bayonet looks just like a regular knife.

To NeitArms please do ak attachment for CZ For me it is worth up to $70.00.

There is a link to the photo of the new bayonet it is 2500.00 CZ =$180.00 CAD

SHARPENING A BAYONET MAKES YOU A WAR CRIMINAL. hahaha that made me laugh

And Murat that link is actually a perfect example of what would be needed, great job! Only thing is is the blade attached to the handle separately, or is it one straight steel piece from tip of blade right through the back end of the handle? Either way $180 for the knife is expensive.. you are right. $100+shipping I would buy it. Depends how strong the steel is, if it is an incredible knife then who knows.. 180 might be doable. You have to think #1 knife, then bayonet second

Omega, if you can craft some steel pieces, or just get decent knives with the CZ/VZ attachment at the top of the handle, you could make some good money, in fact if you could get a small production line with a price less than 180, make a pretty good profit. I bet there is a great deal of demand, a large number of people own these rifles, and selling your product to a few dealers (frontier firearms, marstar, etc) could turn out well for all of us :) hmm.. you can craft perhaps the attachment an even simpler way with a spring on the bottom, being compressed by a simple lever underneath or keep it at the side. Ideas, ideass haha

Been thinking about the idea at work today and I think that the easiest and cheapest way is to modify and customise the actual knife. Building the mecanism would be long and expensive to do. It would also be interesting to response to the specific demand of each customer. I think that when you buy a ~150$ knife you want it the way you like.

I could make different knife handles and blades. I just have to modify the actual knife frame with stainless blade and other part on handle if required.
The knife would be then painted or plated with different metal colors or finish.

Just ask and I'll do.
