I have dovetail rings on my Marlin 60, but the rear ring has to be watched closely as it tends to loosen up.

The scope doesn't quite hold zero through the season, and most range visits require a little adjustment to get back on. Everything is good then for a session or 2. I think it is related to the mount (rear especially).

Is there a more solid mounting method for a low end 3/8 dovetail rifle such as this.

I seem to recall something here about a rings with 2 screws you have to tighten each the same (in turn). Is that related.. I couldn't find it in a search.

Buy better rings.
The best 3/8" dovetail / 11mm dovetail rimfire rings I've seen are the Warne ones (They look like Leupold PRW rings rather than the normal Warne). I have a set on a Walther KKM. They are top drawer. They'll cost a bit more than cheap crap, but are definitely less expensive in the long run. I highly recommend them.

Thanks (again).

I found some interesting things from BKL Technologies too (4" Unitized 6 Screw Scope Mount), but I'm taking a look at the Warnes now.

This is them. Warne 7.3/22 Rings. The strongest small bore scope rings available. Designed to fit a very wide selection of rifles and fit both 3/8” and 11mm dovetails. This is made possible by using a solid steel asymmetrical reversible clamp that can be flipped 180° and used on wider or narrower dovetails for best fit.

Yup that's them. Really helpful with the Walther KKM since it's a 11mm dovetail.
