Went to a friends cottage the other day to do some shooting. I recently had some troubles with the NcStar take down latch pin, so I reinstalled the wartak.
Well, upon closer inspection my wartak cover pin snapped in two. I ordered the magwedge quick pin but it's not here until the 7th. So here's what I've done, and I need to hear some feedback to know if it's safe to shoot this weekend.
Took the remaining pin to work and slapped a digital caliper on it and measured the width. Went to Lowes and picked up a 6x50mm bolt and installed it with a lockwasher and nut...
She was never a pretty girl, and this bolt doesn't do much for her current aesthetic value... What I'd like to know, from anyone with experience, is she still safe to shoot? It's a zinc plated steel bolt, and from the looks of it the Wartak pin was aluminium... According to the aircraft structural repair guys...
