Took apart my stock to get ready for a refinish. The front barrel band retaining spring came out no problems. The one closer to the action snapped off at the pin. My first option is to souce a new one somehow. My second, which if why I'm posting is to try to fit it. My idea is to finish the stock, and Jb weld the pin back onto the spring, and epoxy the spring into the stock cutout. Maybe even add a coil spring inside the cutout to add some support. Anyone know if this is a viable option?

I guess you will only know if you give it a try.We have had this happen as well and ended up buying a junk stock for basically the hardware.it seems to be a fairly common issue with these rifles. Let us know how you make out.

Ah the perils of a refinish. Did you happen to notice the holes in the stock used to remove the band springs with a punch? Jb weld won't work, get yourself a new spring or try getting the old one welded back on. I recommend a pin welder used to pull dents out of cars.
