Hello all, I've a buddy who's swapped my Mosin barrel for a minty one, everything went well until the final torque on the wrench. It seems that the barrel tightens past vertical. He told me the simplest solution would be a very thin washer shim .2mm thick (he deals in metric), to compensate.
Any ideas as to where I could find such a washer?
thanks in advance

Probably easiest to make one. Just out of curiosity, how is the headspace? How far past vertical did the barrel turn?

I'm not sure exactly, but it was enough so the extractor recess was off. With the washer in place, we'll verify the headspace and hope it works out.

I would suggest that before doing any more work, you check the headspace with the barrel indexed. I'm guessing that the specs for 7.62 are generous, not unlike those for .303, but there is no point in going to the bother of doing a final fit on the barrel if headspace is excessive.
