Mosin fever?

1st of all- my apolgizes if I posted this in the wrong section. (feel free to flame if so)
And my second (and last point- which is more of a question)- is it true that one day the availability of the Mosin will dry up? If so- I could only assume that those who have nice Mosins after they dry up will skyrocket in value, correct?

Pretty much what I'm fishing for here is validation to purchase a Mosin- no matter how much of a project it becomes for me.

Yes, it should be in milsurps.

And yes, as with any gun that is no longer in production eventually the supply of them will dry up. I don't think the prices will skyrocket, but as less and less become available they will be worth more and more.

If you're looking to get one now just go and get it. There's plenty of places selling them for $100 or slightly more than that. What I'd be worried about more is surplus ammo drying up.
 
It's no longer in production, so one day, yes, it will be less common. Jump on it while it's hot. you can get M/N for 100$.

just buy the rifle I doubt very much that they will ever be cheaper than they are now. At $110 you should be shooting that mosin already. I have five and I would buy more.
 
I'm debating this as well. I've heard nothign but good reviews about all the $100ish 91/30s out there. Some have extra nice hand picked for under 200. So my dilemma is whether to get one reall nice one or two cheap ones :S

Get a cheap one, this way you won't have to worry about dinging the thing up all the time or shooting corrosive ammo out of it. I have 2 mosins, a Tula 1940's m44 and a 1953 Polish circle-11 unfired 100% mint rifle.

Guess which one I actually use.

I also completely agree with the guy who said you should be more worried about the surplus ammo drying up before the rifles. Enfield production stopped in what? 1957? The price of sporterized No.1's and No.4's have gone up from $25.00 in the 1960's to $125.00 today. I expect the same out of Mosins, any gain in value will be marginal. Just buy them and shoot

What $ value do you place on your mint Polish M44?

That sounds a little steep for the Polish rifles, It's possible they have gone up in value since last I've checked but that still seems a little steep. Mine you the fit and finish looks much better on the Polish than the earlier Russians. I have one Polish 44 and just bought 2 of the $100.00 91/30's from Westrifle, excellent value and a worthy milsurp in my opinion.

I bought a polish M44 from S.I.R manys years ago, they were $114.95, i should buy more of them:( Never fired it yet and i bought another 1 on the EE fews days ago, unissued/unfired for $275. Somes may think that's a high price but they well worth it, awesome quality:D

Guys the truth is how many M44 is out there of Russian production. How much would you pay for one?
It is happened to those rifles it will happened to M91/30. Also You will have to Remember that it will become curiouse and relics in Russia soon and then it will be harder to get them out there price will go up for sure. Lee Enfiels how much are those now and how much you could have bought it 5- 10 years ago. Bottom line I have people buying by crates now just as investment pack.
