Hello , I'm new to the mosin scene and I was wondering if there is an outlet for various mosin parts. Is there a stock cleaning kit that would include the firing pin guage and cleaning rod compatable brushes? After taking down the 91/30 I noticed that the cross pin bolt nut is missing. Can I buy one of those some where? And I guess the days of X54r ammo going for the same price as X39 are long over. On cleaning the new rifles(91/30 and a m44) they both look fresh and ready to shoot. The bolts feels like they lock up well and the bore shows good rifling. Very little apparent wear. Now that they're clean can I go shoot or is there something else I should check? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Pete

fleabay has loads of mosin junk, cleaning kits etc. To set firing pin depth without the guage, pull the bolt out of the rifle and decock it(to decock, grab the bolt handle and the "safety knob" at the back of the bolt, pull and twist counter clockwise, the whole bolt should shorten). Then look at the bolthead from the side, the tip of the firing pin should be flush with the top, and not sticking out past the end of the bolthead...hope that makes sense! www.mosinnagant.net has a wealth of info too...
