The mosin nagant helped win WWII and it still shows that it can kick some a*& whenever it has been encountered. Don't knock it. It may be old, crude and underappreciated, but it did its job...

Plus, the M1891/30 could probably work for pole-vaulting with the bayonet attached, but then again, the M1917 with its bayonet would come very close in length as well...

Mhmm. In Ukraine, many farmers keep their ammunition out in the field where perfect moist, dirty conditions exist for the preservation of near 80 year old corrosive ammunition, should the need ever arise to use it. In the case of use, rounds are not to be washed or wiped clean, but merely loaded and shot. Warning: Mosin MUST be oiled, or it will rust shut tighter than Jean Cretien's mouth after 40 years.
