I bought an m24 awhile ago and I took it apart today and it doesn't have a spring on the trigger? Also I read that the Finnish put a piece of aluminium under the barrel at the front barrel band to make it free floating. It has no piece of aluminium. So do I leave it alone or add a spring and aluminium? Or just leave it so I don't ruin its future value?

I would have to check my M24 again, but as far as I recall mine does not have an aluminum shim either.
I don't remember if the trigger had the spring or not, its been a few years since I had it out.
I would not be messing around with it, leave it as is.

M24 Lotta does have a shim under the barrel. I 've seen the brass ones, but they might have used aluminum as well. You do need significant clearance for that heavy barrel. As for the spring, I believe the the author means the trigger slack take up spring...those are just a convenience. I hope your Lotta is not counterbored, a lot of them are

I know nothing about bores, how do I tell if it is counter bored?
At the muzzle- the bore may be bored out larger than the original groove depth. It was to restore accuracy when the muzzle was damaged or worn by cleaning. It is not a bad thing. It certainly doesn't detract from the value of a fairly rare Finn model. I think the aluminum barrel shim story is due to an error published in an old book. I believe they may have been from another Finn model. As to the extra trigger spring- I think most M24's have them (my 3 do) but there aren't hard and fast rules when it comes to Finn rifles. I wouldn't fool with it.

According to "Rifles of the White Death" by Bowser, only the M28/30 may have had this aluminum sleeve. It didn't continue on to the M39 design. I believe the Bowser book (unfortunately not published in large numbers) is still regarded as pretty accurate regarding the Finn models. For "state of the art" knowledge of Mosins (including Finn owned/ built) it is a good idea to spend time on Gunboards Mosin forum. You have to get familiar with who the resident experts are and filter out the garbage. Unfortunately english language publications are limited and you have to rely on the interweb far more than , for example, Lee Enfields or Mausers, etc.
