Mosin Nagant M38 in a Boyd's thumb hole laminated stock.

I did this with a bubbabed m44 with the bayo ground off, it fit fine worked great but I found I needed to bed the front action lug higher so the mag would feed properly, which inturn lifted the barrel to free float the barrel, great rig but I sold it and got a Monty Carlo stocked 38 as I prefer the stock over the thumbhole
 
A lot of my customers have these and the overall impression is very good.

Many do find it necessary to shim, however, but I consider this normal with Mosins.

I'd highly recommend pillar bedding for best results.

I'll be that person :D Do not do it!
Boyd's thumbhole stock has higher cheek weld for shooting with scope. By the time you get boyd's stock and mounted base - you will spend at least $800. I think I'm being conservative about prices, you looking at $400 for M38, $200 stock, $200 scope mount.
Add to that pillars, crown job... and then, oh man, you may end up with not so accurate rifle, hole in the pocket and feelings of embarrassment and regret. With amount of cash you gonna spend on this project you can buy decent modern rifle in 308 or 30-06.

If you getting it to plink cheap full power ammo - just use M38 as is. They are fun and have their own character.

If you hell bent on pairing mosin rifle with boyd's stock - find already bastardized 91/30 and then go from there ;]
