I have some issue with the fact that they blame the media for the terms "assault rifle" or "sniper rifle", it may or may not have come from there but the industry themselves uses these terms. I've seen ads from major manufactures that use the same terms. I do agree that they are silly terms and I too dislike those terms.

Considering the term "sniper" described those who "hunt snipe", you are as wrong as Eric and Barry are. Regardless, this rifle was used to hunt men during war, so even a fellow with a tight sphincter when it comes to firearms terminology should realize these infact are "sniper rifles".
