For those of you who own one of the above, I'm looking at using a M.N. for a bolt action sample for the CFSC. I've never had a chance to handle one, and I'm wondering if it is possible to adjust the firing pin back far enough so that it can't hit a primer, which would effectively disable it temporarily.

I could just file down the pin, but it would be nice to be able to shoot it once in a while.

Thanks for your help,

OTC

You can't really put the bolt back together at that point.

Your best bet is to get an extra firing pin and cut off the tip and just swap it with the good firing pin on the bolt.

You could possibly thread it in far enough to be inactive. Each bolt is a bit different. I would replace the firing pin with an appropriately long metric bolt.
PS the safety is in the cocking piece. just pull back and turn counterclockwise for safe.

Yeah, that is probably the best way to go, since just leaving the firing out won't work.

Thx guys,

Adjust it back 1st, for sure.
Mother Russia designed them to this with no tools. Give it a try anyhow. One of those firing pin / screwdriver units that are OEM will help too.

i think on mine you can only back out the pin so far before it stops and at that point it might stilll fire.

The bar on the bottom of the bolt has a notch that is the "screwdriver"more like a wrench. As for protrusion simply align the back of the pin so that it is both flush with the cocking piece and in line with the witness mark(chisel cut).
