My 1891/30 from west Rifle has no model name or number on it that I can find. I don't doubt what it is but it must be marked somewhere. Where would it be? It is stamped 1944.

To my knowledge it isn't. It's kind of obvious what it is, why would they need to mark it?
MN 91/30 rifle do not have the Model Number or factory written on the rifle. Arsenal Logo, Date and serial number only, plus a few proof and inspection marks.
Logo for Tula is a star and Izvesk is a small triangle with an arrow inside.

Many thing. 1891/30 is an updated version of an a 1891.
Barrel, stock band, front sight, etc... many thing as been "updated"
1891 model are very rare compared to the millions 1891/30 produce or upgraded from a 1891.

Weight, length, markings, year, different variations of parts, etc. I think it's pretty clear that they wouldn't be making original M91s in 1944.
