:D I just acquired a Mosin-Nagant and I need more info from the Milsurp addicts out there.
Its a 7.62x54R caliber with SA inside a box on the receiver which is hexagon.:) The bolt matches the receiver and there are no crossed out numbers and no importers stamps.
There is also VKT inside another box , it's marked 1942 on the barrel just ahead of the hex receiver. The sling loops attach on the bottom and the sides instead of through the wood like the old 91/30 I use to own. The blueing is perfect and the bore is really decent with no issues like counter boring. I will have pics shortly at deerslayer@shaw.ca if anyone can post or wishes to see them. Any info would be appreciated, John :beerchug:

Hmm... if the sling attaches both on the side and underneath - I haven't seen the rifle but sounds like either an M39 or an M28 Ski Trooper Mosin. As you might know, VKT is Valmet.

mosin

It looks different than the 91/30 I owned before, no dog collar loops and the front sight looks more like a Garand or Enfield than the globe front sight on the 91/30. There are screws on either side of the front sight, my guess is to adjust windage without having to drift the sight.
The wood is finger jointed ahead of the front barrel band and it out weighs the 91/30 by a lot.

Looks like its an M39:

they are worth about 300$ or likely more, especially for the rarer ones (civil guard marked, tikka's etc...) This appraisal is taken from the price that the most recent batch of about 30-50 rifles sold for from CS. they still have some in stock if that tells you anything...

Yeah, the $500 CS is asking definately seems high, or I'd have picked one up awhile ago.

I just had a quick looky, I think they realised they were selling like hotcakes so they upped the prices of the sako and civil guard rifles. The straight stock rifles are quite rare and I guess do command a premium but the others are too high imo

Now that we have questar, we could probably do a group buy from the US if there was enough interest. Unfortunately 90% of finn rifles in the US are import marked whereas the CS guns came direct from Finland and not through the US and therefore dont have any import marks (also makes them more collectible imo)

Can someone give me a ballpark figure on what these rifle are worth, I want to be sure I didn't over pay at the impulse bank. Thanks ,John
