Mosin Nagant scope mounting

I have a Polish M44 coming. Just wondering if any of you knowledgable guys have a specific scope mount you use for side mounting to this rifle. I don't need the original sniper type mount, but something practical for hunting.

Hard question to answer. Only side mount I know for the mosin nagant is the repro sniper mount (which works well if you ask me).

Other problem is that you probably don't want to consider ever reselling that gun if you get it scoped and permanently altered. Polish M44's in good condition are worth a lot, but if you scope it, kiss that value good bye.

Good scopes for mosins that aren't side mounts are the scout mounts that go on the rear sight. In a carbine like the m44 it's particularly suitable because of the recoil and muzzle flash.
 
Go to tradex and they have scope mounts that replace the rear sight for $36.00 then all you need is a long eye relief scope.Only thing that sucks is you loose your iron sights for those close shots.

I don't know really what to do. The rifle is still in the grease. Maybe I should just hang on to it and get a used polish rifle.
