Hey guys. I came across a mosin sniper (original with matching scope) and I have been told that this rifle has waffenampt's on it. I haven't seen the pics yet but I was just wondering, did the germans mark some of their captured Mosins with waffenampts? I know they did not do that for most of them but were a select few marked? The rifle is a recent import direct from Russia.

Most likely faked lime the nazi marked SVTs that cam in last year.

German usually would have only marked a weapon if it was cycled through a repair depot, and it would have got a depot mark not an waa.

Waa are acceptance stamps for new made german items.

Could most likely be acceptance marks from a modern German Proof House.

Many of the Combloc refurbs have passed through Deutschland on their way overseas and thus had to be checked and stamped.

My first SVT40 purchased about 7 years ago had markings from the Köln (Cologne) Proof House.

They looked like this:

CanadianAR, what woudl the depot mark look like? I haven't seen the rifle yet but will tomorrow and jsut want to know what to look out for.

I'm pretty familiar with modern german proof marks so i'll have to take a look and see.

Depot marks on captured arms are usually on the bottom of the stock wrist behind the trigger guard. Stamps in the metal are fake the very vast majority of the time, unless they are a roman numberal with no eagle or swastika.

Those stamps on the SVT's look pretty fake though. I'm very curious to see where exactly this one is marked. Thanks guys, i'll keep you posted.
