I ran across a mosin nagant sniper with what looks like the right scope and mount. 1943 dates looks like mostly force matched parts for just over 600. What should I look for to confirm that this is actually a sniper grade rifle not just a refurb with a period scope mounted on it? Any info or where to look would be appreciated.

If it's a genuine sniper, the most recent scope used should have its serial number on the barrel shank, ahead of the rifle's serial number. Check for that first.

Almost all of the Mosin-Nagant sniper rifles were refurbed following WWII (in anticipation of a WWIII with the Western Allies), so its almost impossible to find a genuine non-refurbed sniper rifle, if such things even exist on this side of the Atlantic.
