So I purchased two 91/30's and there is a slight variation between the stocks. One has metal eyelets for the sling, the other doesn't. Some pics are snapped below.

So, I know its very common to see the metal eyelets for these stocks, even dating back into the 1920s, so why would this particular rifle not have them?

skirsons is correct

I have mosins with elaborate eyelets secured with two screws. some kind of thin sheet metal and like yours nothing. Bear in mind when some of these rifles or just stocks were made "the wolf was at the door". They were facing an attack from arguably the most technically advanced most experienced army in the world at that time. I personaly enjoy mosins more than any other surplus rifle because of the great variation among them.

Now my question

How do you like the scout scope set up? I am back and forth about trying it myself. Any input you have would be appreciated.

I actually haven't had a chance to try the new scout scope set-up. I just put it together about 2 weeks ago. It handles very well though, and its easy to acquire targets etc. It's a 2-7x32mm scope i think.... should be a lot of fun when i finally get it out! :D

I went the S&K scope mount route as I didnt want to bubbah the rifle at all. I'm very much looking forward to blasting through my first few hundred rounds form the crate of 880 i picked up!
