I have a few different Mosin Nagants I bought a few years back, and don’t remember a lot about the rifles. I have a Polish M44 carbine, and what I believe are a Soviet m38 carbine and a 91/30 (longer barrel). Are any of these generally more desirable than the others if they were identical condition?
I’ll get pics and details up for the rest tonight after work.

The M38 is probably going to be worth the most, but if the Polish M44 is in excellent condition as they mostly appear to be, it'll be close behind the M38 in price. 91/30 is.....well its a 91/30. dealers selling them for $400-450 nowadays, but I don't think they're *worth* that much in terms of quality and availability.

I’m looking at trading one for a muzzle loader, a T/C Hawken in nice shape. I don’t usually do trades. And I haven’t paid much attention to my Mosins for a while, don’t want to accidentally trade away something worth a lot more than I’m getting.

Stovepipe: Originality is important with Mosins. An all original, stamped matching 91/30 could be worth quite a bit but so few are sold in Canada that defining a "market value" is difficult. Refurb 91/30's, on the other hand, have a definable "market value" that appears to be climbing a bit but don't expect to get, in a private sale, what commercial sellers seem to be able to charge. M38's are definitely going to sell a bit above 91/30's but the same comments about originality apply. Pictures would definitely help.

Be sure to do proper research before trading any milsurp away for a muzzle loader.

M38s are some of the most uncommon, I see very few of them anymore, I’ll probably never let mine go, if you ever decide to sell shoot me a message.

91/30s are still fairly abundant, although the current attitude on private listing sights for just about anything has dictated they’re worth more than they should be, in January you could buy one for $350 off a legitimate retailer, since then I’ve seen them hit the $450 mark easily already. If it’s hex or SA/Finnish it’s worth money and getting very rare.

M44s are a laughable market for me these days, I’ve seen people asking excess of $1000 for a common M44 in decent but by no means collector quality. I sold mine during the lockdown for by what anyone should consider a pretty penny, although I wish I didn’t now, like a lot of people will point out they aren’t making any more of these. I would consider this or the 91/30 the one to sell/trade if it were me. The M44 just because between all the years it was made, and the Chinese variants, you’ll always see these around but for some reason the price acts like they’re rare.

There is the 91/59 often confused for a M38. Basically they cut down a 91/30 and make it into a M38. But I say the M38 would fetch the most. Considering not too long ago, you could get a 91/30 for under 100$.
