Hello I just recently acquired a Mosin 91/30 through a trade and I thought it would have been a plane jane Mosin but after stripping it down and looking at serial numbers I find it to be a MOLOT as well as an ex sniper by the plugged holes in the reciever.

My questions are what makes a molot different, I understand they imported the rifle but anything else? Also I'd like to reborn this rifle back to sniper status so does anyone know where I can source a bent bolt?

MOLOT is just one of several Russian firearm exporters. Some theorize that they had a hand in refurbing rifles (historically and recently). Some of the earliest PU snipers available in the USA came from MOLOT so they acquired some recognition down south. There reason that MOLOT imported legit PU snipers are given a premium in the USA is because there is a greater chance to the collector that the rifle they are buying is legit and NOT a bubba'd "re-sniper". You have an EX-sniper which is a legitimate Mosin variation. If you want a PU sniper go buy one, they're still around and aren't too expensive. The vast majority of "re-snipers" are poorly done often with incorrect or even worse, aftermarket components.

Checked around but no one has any in stock.
However I can trade for a 1944 izhevsk ex sniper with matching bent bolt or someone has offered to swap bolt with me but that takes away from the matching numbers.

Is a tula more desirable than a izhevsk or they all the same?
My tula doesn't have a scope serial number but that izhevsk does.
From what I read online theres speculation that the tula's that weren't issued as snipers were used as target rifles and marksman training.
Also would swapping a bolt from one mosin to another cause headspace issues?
