Wondering if anyone has used the badace tactical scout scope mount. They have 2 models. Any feedback would be appreciated. No I'm not interested in brass stacker. Really don't like the look

Save yourself some money, remove the rear sight and the remaining groves in the barrel are the same as a standard 22 mounting, find a STEEL set of 22 rings, spot weld a positive stop at the front of the sight base to prevent creep and you're good to go. If you ever want to restore is back, grind down the stop and reinstall the original sight and voila! The difference in taper is less than a mm.

It's more of a tapered dovetail under the rear sight though.. Starting at 11mm and widening to 13mm if I remember correctly.

I drilled and tapped a couple holes into the top of the rear sight dovetail and drilled and tapped an 11mm weaver scope base and then installed a couple Allen head screws through it into the base. Welding a recoil stop onto the front, ala the Swiss Products K31 scope rail would be a great idea too.

A guy could file out the rear sight base to be perfectly 11mm the whole length, but that would negate the easy possibility of going back to original irons.

Use locktite too...

Please don't get rid of backup sights, get mosin base and modern side mount... will need drill and tap and 260$ but will look like mosin :)

The Bad ace mounts are no drill & tap, we have both the long eye releif & the rear mount for standard scopes. We also have the bent bolt handle in stock. We have had good results with the ones we have installed.

Nope won't be drilling anything. No permanent modification going t be done
original mosin sniper was drilled in... the original bases are 70 $ or so (1940-1943 manufacturing-can get those on ebay)
but it's up to you

the tricky part is how to get an original bent bolt

I didnt tack weld anything. I just used a 3 cross bolt clamp mount.

I filed the the dovetail a bit. But it didn't effect mounting the irons back on.

what about back up sights? why I am asking-they are gone... what if scope gets broken/ off while hunting?

Mine is not a sniper. I won't be drilling. I'm doing a scout set up. Get over it

what will u do if scope breaks... and u need to shoot that very moment :) ?
right, I forgot, there will be no such situation, or u pause life and by / sight new scope and then shoot

whatever, man I don't care I was just trying to tell you that what u r creating is not a real set-up, it's just fun range rifle, that's it.. as w/o back-up sights your rifle is good as long as the scope is functional/ sighted

good luck

Right, because it's not like there are tons of hunting rifles out there that never came with irons to begin with. Your argument doesn't make a lot of sense.

Those hunting rifles r made greenhouse hunting..m I guess u never faced a situation when yr scope is broken while hunting

That's 1950 logic when scopes were frail and fogged up.The days of see-through and tip off mts JIC you need your irons for that charging grizzly in the adds...........Harold

Scopes break, even modern ones
Or u take two rifles for hunting, one is a back up and leave one on atv or in camp, then I have no problem with this mod, esp. Given that the original is not altered which is nimportant

Just accept it that the guy wants to do it his WAY. Go continue whining about other things.
