so before you guys flame me, haha i already did a search on this topic so heres my question, has anyone installed a scout mount which replaces the rear sight on a mosin? i saw one at westrifle for 15 dollars and it looks quite solid to me but i was wondering if anyone here had actual real world experience to these types of mounts? they seem like less work than those bent bolt packages that come with mount and drill and tap.

I've really considered this no-gun smith option for my M44... But it's one of things where I really want to try before I buy. I'm not sure I'd like LER scopes..
md, i hear what ur saying but i have shot this gun with iron sights and it seems quite accurate so i might as well get better range out of it if it is capable, that kinda makes me wonder something about guys who dont want to spend too much money on a gun becausse they didnt pay much for it, if a mosins suddenly shot up to 1000 dollars would that suddenly justify spening 300 on a scope setup?, i got the cheapest one westrifle had. the mount and scope will cost more than i paid for the gun but i can always use the scope on my sks if things dont go right.
