mosin sniper for hunting

hello i am just asking for feedback from anyone who has used their mosin sniper for deer hunting and such
i am looking for a dual use milsurp: firing cheap surplus ammunition, and hunting with expanding rounds

how many yards could you nail a whitetail at? etc.

I have used my authentic PU, and an M28 for deer. I like mosins. The ammo isn't really cheap though, at least for softpoint. I have both used the norma stuff, and my own loads. How many yards? Practice with your hunting gear until you can hit whatever you can see from realistic positions.

Soft point ammo is not expensive. I've picked up both LVE and MFS ammunition from Westrifle for a really good price. I think they still have some, but may not have it listed on their site. Very good shooting ammo for bang flops on deer. I took this one a few weeks ago at 180 yards with open sights. Bang Flop!

the 7.62x54R is close to the 30-06 in power so the answer to how far is how far are you comfortable and competent in shooting.
