Hi

heres my problem:
mosinsniper.jpg

as you can see, a screw from the receiver is sticking out a few milimeters, and there is no other direct access to the screw from other sides, unless you take the mount off, which i have not done.

This screw causes the optic to sit crooked over the barrel, which is in my opinion quite anoying.

whats your remedy on this?

btw there are no markings on the mount, therefore i believe it to be repro, but im no expert on russian rifles.

any help is much apriciated! :)

That is not a screw it is a locating pin that is press fit/hammered into a slightly undersize hole in the receiver.
Look in the bolt raceway to see if the pin bottoms out and is ground flush to the receiver. If it is not you can try driving the pin deeper with a punch and hammer, do not mushroom the pin end or it will make removal of the mount more difficult. If it does not want to move you will have to take the mount off and try hammering it again (clean up any mushrooming) or grind the pin lower.

back from page 3.

the only thing i could do in this case was to grind the screw down, became nice and flat, and the scope rail not sits correclty on the mount, However! the optic is still aiming far right.. the mount sits nicely on the receiver, and with the screw down, theres no un evenness like before to make the sights aim far right.

even at 25 yards i have to move to optics all the way to the left in order to shoot straight.

anyone come across this, or have any ideas or suggestions to remedy this?

thanks!

thers a site called www.surplusguns or another wwwmosin-nagant may help. cant remember wich but both got inf on setting up nagant rifle /scopes ect, do you know that when first setting up this scope you gotta either shim or grind the mounts scope rail 2 little tabs wich sit agains the rifle to correct left /rite adjustment, ? this mite be why your scope is all way left /or rite. for up down adjustment you screw or loosen the screw on rear of mount . after all that you can play with the scopes adjustment to fine tune things.
