warning pic heavy thread.

Here's an update thread to those interested in my recent izhevsk Mosin Nagant m91/30 purchase.

So the previous owner did not clean any of the grease/cosmoline off the rifle so here's my clean up job with pictures. Not sure what to do about the stock yet just wiped it clean and put some light oil on it.

So step number 1 make sure the wife isn't home! after that go hog wild! lol

I don't like chevies lol

Notice how grubby and caked with grease it is.

scope and mount

Boiling the Glitch off

must be shellac boiled off

Just kidding I didn't put the scope in lol

bullet doesn't go in very far!

bore after cleaning, man these bore photos are hard to take!

looks much cleaner now.

Stock looks a little rough.

Looks like beautiful refurbished authentic SVM to me. But...not sure about boiling the scope....It is Kazan' scope made in 1944 with a bit of grease on it. Why did you boil it? IMHO, don't do anything else to it!
LOL just read the fine print below. Almost got a heart attack when saw that pic:)

Dont worry its an older non stick that i dont trust anymore. Range report coming soon!

Range report here.

I spent the first half of the trip meddling with my side mount posp svd scope on my svt 40. I tightened it down pretty hard but the screws wiggled loose again. This time its getting lock tight! Don't worry its not screwed into the stock !

Back to the mosin sniper I sighted it first at 25 yards and here is my first 100 yard target shooting from a bench rest. Ammunition is soviet surplus silver tip in the 880 round crate with a head stamp 71-10. I'm pretty happy with these results, there was a ugly modern satin stainless rifle with a plastic stock that shot a much worse group then this did.
