It looks like my next purchase is going to be a Mosin Sniper and I'm hunting for an "original refurbished" rifle rather than than "reproduction" one.

Canadian Tire seems to have good selection and price, but does anyone have any experience with the ones they sell?

Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance.

unless Canadian tire is manufacturing their own rifles...Id imagine they would be the same quality as the others on the market..

They get them off North Sylva, like a lot of the other dealers. If the price is right, go for it. But ask to inspect it first. Look for barrel and wood condition, etc. As a general rule, the "snipers" are built off the higher quality rifles, but not always. You can still get ones with pitted barrels and nasty chewed up wood.

I have bought several at CT. They, unlike many gun stores, often have several to choose from, and they are competitively priced.
It is unlikely that you will find any one example with all the features you want (matching parts, good finish, good bore, clear scope) so it helps to prioritize beforehand. I focus on the bore condition since I don't care too much about matching numbers and I can repair or restore anything else.
Overall their condition is equal to the ones offered on EE, contrary to the "recent Molot ones are mash-ups" comment above. Older import Molots have much smaller laser etch "Made in Russia" but otherwise the quality is about the same. My very best condition PU came from CT.

Thank you very much for the input everyone, gave me a lot to think about. Looks like I'll be taking the small hit in quality though for the huge drop in price and go with Cdn Tire. Just a matter of waiting for the next sale now...

Oh you went and done did it. You cast aspersions on Molot mixmaster guns. Cue the outraged indignation from Molot owners in 3...2...1...

95%+ of all Mosins of every kind are mixmasters in Canada. Even the "all matching" ones on the EE.

Comb the EE if you want a nicer "refurb"... The recent Molot ones are mash-ups...

The recent batch was exported by Tulsky rather than Molot and they are actually a lot nicer than the Molot batch as a general rule. Both are primarily mixmasters, as nearly all refurbished Mosins are.

Didn't say otherwise. But there are a ton of people on the board that believe their snipers, Molot or otherwise, are something that they aren't.

Technically the mosins in Canada are matching, they left the depot or armorers shop and were renumbered as required, they have "matching parts". They are matching for the same reason that the gurus consider the shellac to be the correct finish.

I've gotten one of the tulsky snipers, its a nice rifle and a 1.5" group with Chinese surplus is the best I've shot with it.

Yes, that's right. That's why we say "all matching" vs. "original matching". However, it's a bit silly because whether it was ground down and stamped again, lined out and stamped again or electropenciled they are all force matched. We give some kind of premium to the former though, aesthetics maybe?

I think the majority of owners realize full well that their rifles are refurbished. Unless you're insinuating that the Molot rifles are not authentic 91/30 PU snipers which is a rumor that a few dealers that make and sell reproductions started. The issue has been beaten to death. Numerous serious collectors, authors and researchers have confirmed that the Molot rifles are authentic sniper rifles, period. The Tulsky rifles are also authentic sniper rifles, period.

Then we're applying a different standard for the word "authentic" than would be applied, say, to a ZF41 Mauser.
