mosin stock cartouche

I was just wondering what this stock cartouche is? why it is stamped on the stock? its a 1941 Ish mosin nagant.

That would have been out on from factory when the gun was built. My svt and mosin have them but are very faint. It says CCCP in the circle.

I'm sure in the worst nightmare commies did not see their guns exported to "evil capitalist countries"...

The 91/30 stocks had many cartouches that we rarely see because they were sanded off during refurbishment.
