Can anyone tell me what I have here? The tang is dated 1891 and she is very accurate. Hopefully pics will appear. Pics never came up. Anyway, it's an 1891 Austrian receiver with a 1940 Tikka barrel, only matching numbers are the barrel and bolt.

No pics, no opinions. But Austrian receiver is very scarce, actually so far nobody ever heard about one. You probably mean Austrian capture marked?

Pics got lost in the mire, gotta get the young 'un to post em again. It's a 1940 dated barrel, not 42, my mistake. The receiver has what looks like a lion with the letters OE on top of WG over it. A five number serial on the left of the receiver also. The tang is dated 1891. She's quite the shooter I must say, she tends to string, which I like.

Pics won't post for some reason, anyone wanna post some pics for me, I'll text em to ya. I'll buy ya a beer if I'm in your neck 'o da woods. :)

You have to post pics either through a picture hosting sight, or be a paying CGN member. There is a sticky that explains how to post pics on here.

OEWG is an Austrian capture mark from WW1 standing for "Ostereichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft". The receiver is either French or Russian manufacture depending on the tang markings, if it is an early Tula you may see the ghost of the original serial number of that receiver on the top flat underneath the capture markings.
The lion marking sounds interesting, we'll need to see pics. It could be a bear which is another Austrian mark.

It could also be a Swiss contract barrel on an Austrian capture rifle picked up on the surplus market by the Finns.

I recently saw exactly that at the Victoria show this fall. I don't know enough about the markings to say this was correct. My big question was how the Finn/Swiss/Austrian/Czarist markings got onto the barrel and receiver

Here is your most important pic. I rotated and cropped it for better effect.

Looks to be pre 1918 Czarist Russian Receiver, with Steyr OEWG rework stamp above the Russian Eagle. Fitted with a 1940 Tikkakoski Barrel. So, originally used by the Russian army, captured by the Austria Hungarian Empire, possibly repaired or refitted for Austrian use, then sold to Finland and used against its erstwhile manufacturer.

Cool serial number, and VERY cool if receiver tang is dated 1891...

Thanks for the help and info fox, it's very appreciated. I never knew that was a Russian eagle, learned something today. I got the rifle and 120 rds of fmj for 250$, I just had to have her. I had to put her in an old Finn stock cos she come in a bubba'd stock the original owner cut down.:( I'll see if I can post a pic of the travesty.
