mosin

Sharp rifling, no pitting, no frosting, no damage to the muzzle crown, and matching numbers.

PS, Don't forget to look for a round in the chamber:D

If you can, run a patch or two down the barrel (most stores are okay with this. One range/store was all but openly hostile when I did).

There is always residual oil, dirt, cosmo in there that can make an otherwise bright bore look like sewer pipe. A dry patch does just fine. If you don't see shine after a dry patch or two, no amount of scrubbing will reveal one after you get it home and attack it with solvent.

Sweets is a favorite of mine too. Removes everything save for a bad first impression. I use a straight nitro solvent, Balistol, or Eds Red if I'm not attacking metal fouling specifically.

If you're just blasting with surplus a slightly frosted bore isn't the worst thing in the world, though it'll still collect gilding metal. I cast my own bullets, however, so my bores needs to be bright and sharp.
