Anyone know the key differences between the two the $150 - $200 price difference?

I know the capacity is 9 on the 590 Mariner compared to only 6 on the 590A1 for only an extra 2" longer barrel....

A1 has a metal trigger guard and a heavy walled barrel. It's a heavier, sturdier gun. The regular 590 has a thinner barrel and more polymer parts.

You mean XCS? Besides the anti-corrosion coatings (internal and external) I don't think its any different than a regular 870.

With that said, I'd take the 590A1 over that gun. However, if you're hunting or exposing the gun to water/mud/whatever the XCS should technically fare better.

Is it just a toy/zombie-defense gun? If so, the 590A1 is bad-ass and hard to beat. The only Remington I'd pick over it is an 870 Police but you're talkin twice the price... that's a hard one to swallow. You have to go handle these guns if you get a chance.. the 590A1 is a hefty thing.

There is guy selling XCS for $650 in my area so caught my eye but a brand new 590 Mariner or A1 would probably work just as well for zombie-defense..

I own a 590 Mariner 9 shot and have shot the 590A1.
I'd own either, I just wanted the marine coat and light weight.

I use it for skeet sometimes and I must say it is light compared to the 590A1.

But you can't go wrong with either. Big Mossberg fan here.
