Do you guys think this would be a good starter "precision rifle"? Max range i will shoot is 500, all targets.

Anyone have one? how do you like it?

I'm loking at this one of course due to price.

Stay away from it! Ive heard nothing but bad things about the night train. Look into Savage 11FCXP3 package. Very accurate, short action, detachable box magazine, and comes with a scope all for about $500 plus taxes.

Elwood Epps has the 11FCXP3 Savage package on right now for $441.21 plus shipping and taxes chambered in .308

Trainwreck. Just search this forum for "Mossberg Night Train, and start reading. You'll find few voices raised in favour of these. You'd be far better off saving your money for something good. Watch the EE. Don't be in a hurry to buy, just see what's available and how much it costs, get an idea of what budget you'll need.
Keep reading the threads in here, a recent one discussed .308 vs .223, and as a .308 shooter, I do know my next rifle, whenever that happens, will be a .223. Don't get me wrong, I love shooting .308, and expect to be doing so for some time to come. It's just that I'm not blind to it's minuses as well as it's plusses.
The .223's far longer barrel life, cheaper to reload, less recoil: works for me.

I think it is a piece of $hit, and you are not going to find a "precision" rifle for that sort of money anyway. Buy a Remington or Savage and have fun. When it is upgraded in the right places, it will have the capability of producing precision results. With the exception of a few very expensive high-end "tactical" rifles, all factory rifles shoot pretty much the same. Research upgradability and find something you like and can afford in the mean time.
