I have been offered the opportunity to purchase a Mossberg 151 m-b from a friend. The gun is in excellent condition and the peep site is intact. What is a fair price? I don't want to steal the gun. But I also don't plan on paying top dollar. There is not a lot of information that I am finding online that is current. I did notice one thread on cgn that said 300 to 325 in top condition. Thoughts?

Thank you.

If the rifle is in really good condition and has all 3 sights you can expect to see anything from $275-350 depending on who is selling it. If a sight is missing they run $50-75 to replace. Make sure the magazine tube isn't bent as well.

I got a nice shooting beater off of the EE for $100 shipped. Someone had chopped the front off the stock and the peep sights were gone. Bumps and bruises yes, but super light with that chopped stock, as well as accurate and reliable. Condition is everything with these guns when it comes to price.

all these old Mossberg 22's are extremely accurate, they seem to do better with cheap regular velocity stuff,i have about 20 of the old Mossberg 22's in my collection, including 3 151's,,you should be impressed at how accurate and reliable they are,at least mine never missed a beat,

The prices seem to be lower here on the west coast. Partly I think this is due to people retiring out here and when the time comes the widows get rid of the firearms. The classics seem to bring lower prices here but black guns go high. I have seen Mossbergs get painted up - stocks and barrel/action -and bring higher prices that if they were left in original shape. I have a few 151s and the only thing I can add from above is a good cleaning usually solves any problems with the semis.
