Hi guys,

I "inherited" a bunch of firearms from a friend's father after he moved into a home. I don't think they were ever registered and we couldn't find any documentation in his stuff.

One of the guns is is Mossberg 152K. I don't know anything about these rifles. Are they any good? of any value? ...where the heck is the serial number of this thing?

Some pictures of the rifle:

Thanks

Most older mossbergs don't have serial #'s. When you attempt to register it, tell them no #, and they will send you a Firearm Ident. Number for it.

I have 152K. It was my first 22 rifle since I was back to the addiction. That folding fore end is good in a way, it wedges barrel and makes rifle extremely accurate. On the other hand it changes your zero, so it will be accurate rifle the day you sight it in. Accurate means 1 MOA with whatever ammo. With folding foreend being "stoved" rifle shoot so-so, just like any other sporter. Another good part of this particular design is that you can easily clean this rifle by just unscrewing rear end plug and pulling entrails out. Looking at your rifle - mine came to me with exactly the same scope.

Older Mossbergs are kind of diamonds in the rough. They generally shoot pretty well, and the stocks can be quite nice.

Clean the action really well, and use something like BreakFree CLP in the action so that powder doesn't bake onto every surface.

I have a 152 with the factory peep sight and it is my favourite plinker. It is reliable and accurate enough to make gopher's nervous at 50 yards but a target rifle it isn't.

You can buy one in VG condition for about $130-$150 CAD
