I have the opportunity to do a trade for a Mossberg 26c with target sights. Can't find much information to help me put a value to it. Hoping someone can chime in and help me out. Looks to be in very good condition from the pictures I received.
Made from 1938-1941. Old mossberg's are usually quite accurate. I think $250 would be a bit high for the max. but it all depends how much you want it. I've overpaid for an older rifle, sometimes you have to if it's just what I was looking for.
The 26C came originally with out peep sight or sling swivels. Some models of the 26C were different but that is another story. I have 3 26Cs going to a gun show this weekend and the highest priced one is $185. I am just selling down. Note: all three have had swivels installed at some point and then removed. In mint condition one out here could go for $225, but in really mint condition.
I had a 26 for a bit, was in good shape but was the least accurate Mossberg I had ever owned...not sure why.
46 and 146 series I have always had really good results with.
What I failed to mention in my previous post was that the 26 models are my favorite Mossberg single shot rifles. They are very easy to chamber unlike others I have ie model 35 comes to mind. For the most part the will shot anything but the odd one is fussy.
