G’day,

I have 2 Mossberg rifles, one of which has a barrel roll marking showing Model 42M (c), and the other Model 42M C.

They are virtually identical except for the barrel markings. Was this just a stamp change or is there a difference in the rifle?

I have sourced the RFC sight but did not find anything to clarify this specific marking.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Allan

I do remember a thread over on RFC where this came up with members.
I think the consensus was there wasn't any difference.
See if anyone will chime in.

Thank you for the feedback as it proves enlightening, but also mystifying… Regrettably neither had the rear aperture sight, and the rear sight configuration was reversed (42m (c) has the s102, 42M-C has the s107) which could mean anything after all these years and adaptation, as both barrels were drilled/tapped with holes for two screws ala the s107 mount. The metal of the 42M C is in better shape as is the bore, and the stock better on the 42M(c). I might take the best of both and build one nice piece. It is good to have hobbies. BTW, may I learn the source of your info? Cheers.

Sunray my information may not always be correct as my source may not always be correct but a good place to start is the Mossberg thread on RFC. Go to the stickies with the Damguys info.
