Just a swift Q: Where would one find the Serial # for such a beast....!
Also, where could I also purchase a scope bracket/mount for the above rifle....

Lots of them out there. Many guns made prior to 1968 or later only had a stock number on the shipping box.
 
The scope mount can be found with great difficulty. I tried to get one from Havlin in USA but they can no longer ship to Canada. Great pity as there is a huge Mossberg market here.
 
For the last ten years I have had a " Weaver side 1" H" mount on my 46b.
It replaced an N2 (3/4") mount after about 25 years service. They both screwed into the
receiver, same holes.

I don't recall having much trouble finding the Weaver mount.

"...prior to 1968 or later..." S/N's weren't required on U.S. made .22's until after 1968. Their Gun Control Act of 1968 made them mandatory. The GCA, a knee jerk reaction to the M.L. King and Robert Kennedy murders, also ended mail order firearm sales and the re-importation, to the States, of Lend/Lease firearms. Among other things.
