Hey all just bought a Mossberg 46 b at a yard sale here in Petawawa and was wondering what it is worth for curiosity sake. It is a tube fed bolt action and has the multiple post front sight set up with an adjustable rear site and heavy target stock and barrel. It is in amazing shape just needed a little cleaning and it was good to go.

Thanks is advance for any replies.

I have a 46b also, was my grandfathers. I believe he bought it in the 40's, and shot lots of deer with it to feed the family. I shoot it once in awhile, still accurate. The tube holds 30 rounds. I don't know what its worth, but probably $100-$150. If you ever need parts call or email Vic at havlinsales.com, they've got everything for mossbergs. I bought a side mount weaver base for mine from them.

46B Mossie

In good shape should run $125 - $175. Is the rear peep the swing away S100 ( which tends to loosen up in the "claws" eventually) or the later S300? A few things to watch for - 1) Trigger weight is adjustable ( need to remove stock). 2) IF its been shot a lot there may be extreme wear on the firing pin where the sear makes contact - if the trigger is set up REALLY light and its worn like that it may be capable of discharging with only a firm bump of the butt on the ground ( learned about that potential problem circa 1962 ). 3) After approx.60 years the tube mag spring may be a little weaker than it once was - I use mine to illustrate to the local Junior Rifle Hunter Safety kids that these old tube mag rifles have a bad habit of not ejecting the last 1 or 2 rounds when the action is cycled normally - they learn real fast to do a visual on the feed path!
Beautiful oldtimer that can still hold its own with many newer and more expensive rifles. Kayceel

I have 2 146b's, which is the model that followed the 46b. These are just great rifles that are generally undervalued in the market. I bought one of mine for $75.00, a real steal. Accurate and dependable. I love the 46/146 series, but am still looking for a good 151M (b) Regards, Eagleye
