Looking at purchasing a Mossberg 464 very nice looking gun with walnut stock.
I have never owned a Lever action and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this rifle.
Thanks
I bought a used one a few years ago for almost nothing. The rifle is quite accurate and the finish on the metal is good. The biggest gripes I have with the rifle is the plastic parts, the cartridge elevator and barrel band.
Unfortunately, finding parts for the 464 is difficult; factory and aftermarket.
Lot of complaints with the new model lever action mossbergs, both centerfire and rimfire. And the warranty service here in Canada is very poor, and very slow. I would give them a hard pass myself.
Bought one for $250, broke the safety off first time to the range, gun was decently accurate but felt cheap and had cheap birch stocks ,sold it for less than I paid, not my fav lever gun.
These guns are cheesy. the actions are super sloppy, the safety on the lever is terrible if you're trying to shoot moderately fast and accurate. had one gave it away for free to a buddy.
I bought one brand new 10+ years ago. Fit and finish on the rifle is good. Many rounds down the tube and years later, the rifle is still as accurate and reliable as is it was when new.
