but its my rifle in the pics
Put a new Mossberg Model 464 side by side with a Winchester 94 (or a Marlin Model 1894) and the resonance is obvious. The Mossberg 464 has the familiar slim, flat-sided receiver; two-piece, straight-grip stock; receiver-side loading port; tubular magazine with barrel band; and exposed hammer. Like both the Winchester and Marlin designs, the Model 464 action is operated by a forward stroke of the straight-looped lever, which directly engages the bolt. There is neither cam nor link-arm nor the “geared” rack-and-pinion design used by the modern (1971) Browning BLR to shorten its lever travel.

In function, the Model 464 is similar to the Winchester Model 94 Angle Eject design. The receiver is open-topped with the right side slightly lowered to allow sideways ejection of fired cases, thus permiting receiver-top scope mounting. The 464 utilizes Weaver 403 bases, which are the same as the front base for the Model 94 Angle Eject but are used both for the front and rear on the Mossberg. When installed, the rear base projects rearward and overhangs the rear of the bolt and the bolt locking lug but does not interfere in any way with their operation or with access to the hammer. Also, the low profile of these mount bases allows ready use of the gun’s barrel-mounted open sights for thicket-hunting if you employ quick-detach rings to readily pop the scope on or off. The Model 464 sights include a dovetail-mounted front blade with serrated rear surface and gold bead, and a dovetail-mounted rear sight with a flip-up/down leaf that is screw-adjustable for windage and has a set-screw-adjustable elevation notch with a visible white-diamond insert

hell maybe some youtube have see this rifle on there yet

we had it out at the range today and cant say how good it shots yet.the tasco on it was NFG(like most are).the mag tube did losen up alot.look like the barrel band is the problem with it.other then that cant gripe about it that much

i have to say it

yep i really tried to not write this but i cant help it.:redface:
the mossberg 464 is a not worth it at ALL!!!
the good thing about this gun is it shoots asz good as any average 30/30 lever out there.
the reast can best be exampled but the saying "MADE IN CHINA CRAP"
Im starting to worrie each time it take it out to shoot.something always breaks.its a new gun and i really take care of my stuff, but this thing well i dont know.....
i just hope that when the screws i asked for to replace the ones that are breaking(barrel band screw x2) is the worst of my worries with this thing and i dont get hurt from the gun one day.

I've heard that Mossberg can't keep up with manufacturing all the broken parts on these. Don't know if there is any truth behind it, but with all the bad reports I've been hearing about these things, I believe it. I guess if you want a 30-30, get a Marlin or a used Winchester! I have one of each and they are both fantastic.

Anyone tried the Henry 30-30's yet?

Too bad...I'm a fan of Mossy shots guns, but an even bigger fan of Winchester and Marlin Lever rifles.

It's Mossy's first run of these so hopefully they can fix the quality problems. Rumor has it Winchester is releasing the Mod 94 sometime next year, so the original is back. Anyway, if you want a .30-30 lots of used Winny's and new and used Marlin's out there.

Interesting. I've shot over 100 rounds through mine so far and it's been perfect. Accuracy seems relatively good, and the balance/handling is great. And it says right on the stock, "Made in USA". It's an entry level gun though, what do you expect....

@savagefan this rifle is not Made in China. :rolleyes:

@kyjelly44, Quit being hysterical. :rolleyes:
Put a better scope on it.
