I just recently picked this old girl up. Was it a military training rifle? Any idea of the value?
The bore is in really good shape, and the overall condition is good.

Missing a few parts, and a few wrong parts installed. 46 was never used as a training rifle, probably around $250 as is...

Front Sight, anschutz sight holder added, swivels, dust cover, just off the top of my head....made from '47-'52

Yes, it has the wrong front sight, missing rear sight and the wrong swivels. Plus the front wood has been drilled for the front swivel. The original mounts into the front metal band. It is also missing the bolt dust cover. Nice rifle though.

Yah…lots of bubba there (unfortunately). These "vintage" Mossbergs are shooters and if this is one too it shouldn't be difficult to sell (to the right buyer of course).
Let us know how it shoots. Its tube fed right? Hmmmm…...

I am a bit of a Mossberg "Collector" and have one of those 46M versions. They are great rifles, accurate and trouble free.

I also have a 42M, 146B, 151Mb, and about 6 others.

I have blown the doors off a few shooters when shooting these older Mossys. They tend to be quite accurate, even though they look a bit different.

Hang on to that 22. It will surprise you. Dave.

I'm in with one too.
Mine came with all the sights and a scope, all original.
All original dust. And a custom coat of varnish!

Note the definition in the cheekpiece whereas yours has been sanded down.

I'm in on this!
Mine was given to my by my Father-in-law, years ago. He hunted the woods of Maine and Connecticut as a young man, before coming to Canada and the west in 1967.
I had to acquire a few parts, and repair a couple things, but she's looking pretty good now....

I think with that repair/modification to the pistol grip, along with the other points already pointed out, $250.00 might be a bit of a stretch as far as value. If someone wants it original, it is around $150.00 to $175.00 to do so which is quite a bit over what it would be worth with the pistol grip modification and holes drilled for the swivels.
