Hey guys, a friend of mine's dad passed recently. He had a Mossberg 4X4 stainless, laminated stock, chambered in .300 Win Mag. The family wants to sell this rifle, and asked me how much it's worth. I've spent a few hours looking at sponsor sites, and went through every page on the hunting rifle EE to no avail. Does anybody have a ball park idea on what a fair asking price would be? Thanks for the help!

The name has changed to the patriot; possibly the design as well.
They sell new at Cabelas for 639 dollars.
Not a popular rifle so I would probably price it to sell if I was trying to move it. Probably somewhere around half of the sticker price unfortunately

I've fired one like that before and if i made an offer, it would probably be interpreted by the seller as insulting...They're not the highest quality rifles out there, to say the least...But from what i remember, they were accurate enough....
Tell him to list it for 500$ and see if someone bites. Then drop it 50$ a week until it's sold.

Stainless with a laminate stock should help, but these were so unsuccessful they got redesigned and relaunched as the patriot rifles (which are still not particularly well regarded) so finding a buyer might prove difficult.
On the plus side, if it's resale value is as bad as predicted here, you just might have gotten yourself a stainless 300 win mag for a good price lol
