Mossberg 4x4 detachable mag

Rather a newbie to the forums, spending a bunch of time reading and gathering information from the site. Thank to all who share.

I am looking at buying a my 1st 30-06, went to a large retailer and handled a few different firearms,

I saw a Mossberg 4x4, price was very interesting for my first new hunting rifle.

Felt good
Check rest was good
Felt well balanced.
Etc.

Then I dropped the detachable mag, spring blew out of the box, is this an issue that is consistent with this set up?
Can one repair, replace?
If you can replace what would be recommendation?

I ordered a new Mossberg long range mag from Cabelas for my marine coat Patriot and have been waiting months.

Not sure what takes these big box stores to restock inventory, but they are terrible.
