Hello everyone,
I've seen the Mossberg 4x4 at my local retailers but he can't give feedback on. Since it's worth half the price of others 30-06, I'm septic on his reliability. Can anyone who have bought it can help me??

Mossberg 4x4

I looked at these when they first came available but couldn't get used to that stock - too funky for my tastes. I opted instead for the Mossberg ATR in 30-06 instead. More conventional looking synthetic stock (fit better too).

Not sure if there is much difference between the two beyond the stocks. My ATR has been a pleasant surprise with excellent grouping out of the box, haven't heard any feedback on how the 4x4 shoots.

I've thought about another ATR in .308 as a low-buck long-range build for sh*ts and giggles because of the out of the box accuracy.

I subscribe to about a half dozen "gun mags" and they have had nothing but good things to say about the Mossberg. The ATR and 4x4 are apparently excellent and they are well worth the money. Being so cheap, I can't see how you could lose on one.

a friend of a friend bought one recently.
He experienced over 30% "fail to fire" with 2 different types of factory ammunition.
The rifle is currently back with Mossberg for repair, buddy's friend will dump the rifle on some other unsuspecting soul when he gets it back.
He was not impressed with the reliability, but no complaints about the accuracy (when it worked)

I kinda think they are made by Savage. They have the same barrel nut (Sorta) and feel about the same. There is one model that comes with a Bipod and OK scope for under $500.00 in .308.
