Hey,

I have stock Mossberg 500 and I want to put on at Tacstar 6 shell sidesaddle but the forend is about an inch to long.
I have seen people cut the forend down and my question is what is the best way of doing this?
I was thinking about using my chop saw.

Or would it be better to just buy a shorter forend?
If so were do i get one ? They seem to be sold out everywhere and what kind?

I would appreciate any advice or information.

Is it possible to shorten the saddle instead?

Cutting the forend will probably decrease the value of the shotgun. Unless you are planning to keep it forever.

I cut down a fore-end from a 590 to fit a 500. I used a miter saw and then reshaped the end with a bench mounted belt sander. I believe it also took some dremel work on the inside to get the nut to fit back in ( this was about 5 years ago). It looks good enough for my use, which is waterfowl hunting. I think Promag makes a longer action bar assembly that will work with the longer fore-end. I think Hogue makes a longer nut that will work with your existing action bar assembly. The trick is finding either one of them.
