If somebody would tell it to me, i would hardly believe, but now I know that from my own experience.

Some time ago I bought in EE section a very cool shoulder stock for my Mossbergo 500 JIC 2 (which comes initially with a pistol grip only).

The seller didn't have an original attachment bolt and a washer, but made one himself by cutting some longer bolt to proper size.

When the stock arrived, I attached it to the gun - no problem, it was easy to do. For some reason I didn't try to cycle action with a new stock - it seemed impossible to me that stock can affect action in any way. But I was wrong. When I came to firing range with my friends, I found that I can't cycle the action and the trigger didn't work too! It was kind of stuck, and I couldn't do anything about it.

At home I removed the stock, and everything started working again. Then screwed the bolt into the receiver - not working again, as expected.

Thank's God, I found this issue not when I actually needed the shotgun! Now I am looking for a factory-made stock attachment bolt...

Add washers to the bolt head side so that the bolt doesn't screw in as far. It sounds like somehow you have screwed it far enough in to the receiver to contact something.

Sounds like the thing is protruding too far into the receiver. Maybe put it on the stripped receiver & see if there is any protrusion of the bolt into the interior rear of the receiver. This is my bet. If it is protruding where it should not be, just keep filing some off the bolt end until it does not interfere with the function.

choices:

1. file some off the end of the bolt

2. build up the bolt head with washers under the bolt head.

Have a nice long weekend by the way.

Edit: I see someone beat me to it. :)

Here's a nice trick for you. Thread a proper sized nut on to the bolt as far as it will go. Hacksaw the half inch off the end. Spin the nut off the bolt. As the nut passes the cut portion it will cut the threads back into shape.

You sound like you are a bit new to tools n things, but if you just happen to have a thread cutting die it works even better.
