Anyone find the mossberg 500 length of pull to be too long?

I have pretty short arms and I am always fighting with the gun to get a good mount with it, especially during the colder months when I have several layers on.

can a gunsmith shorten a synthetic stock? I actually haven't looked under the buttpad of the synthetic stock yet , but I am assuming the screws go into a special mold inside the stock, as the stock is not solid filled ( atleast for my rifle it isnt)

I cut an inch off my Maverick 88. Originally a 14 3/4 lop. You will have to remove some meat from the factory butt pad or find another to suit.

As Wendell suggested, get a magpul sga stock .
Its crazy easy to reduce or add length to, winter, heavy clothing remove spacers, summer, lighter clothing, add spacers.
Magpul also makes a recoil pad adapter that allows you to use any recoil pad made for a Remington, i.e. limbsaver, which are very nice .

As for shorting the factory stock, its pretty easy , take the pad off , shoulder the shotgun, so you can kind of get a idea of how much you want to remove , as in , if it feels right without the recoil pad, cut the thickness of the pad off , if too short, then maybe just half , and remember, its easier to remove then add to it .
Take a pair of calipers, score the length you want to remove, before you cut, you'll want to drill the screw holes a little deeper, use a bit that moves freely in the holes , then all you need is a hacksaw, cut away.
Reshaping the recoil pad is a pain , a bench grinder will help , hand sanding takes forever .

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I will shop around for the best option. If all else fails, I might just cut some of the recoil pad off, depending on how much i need to shorten and if there will be any pad left. I'll have to measure my other shotgun stock to compare.
