Hi,

Being the proud owner of several 870's, I want to get another shotgun and I was thinking of getting a Mossberg 500 Mariner with pistol grip.

I supposedly has 9 shot capacity. How could this be considering that 870's only 6 or 7 shots.

Is it any good for home defense etc...:shotgun:

Is this gun good quality because it is dirt cheap at $380 (for a stainless gun)! I was thinking it would be like a complemetary shotgun to my current collection of 870's.

Thanks

The Mossberg 590 Special Purpose Mariner is the 9 Shot has a 20 inch barrel and 20 inch mag tube, to answer your question it's 8 2-3/4 inch rounds in the tube one chambered.

Its a great zombie gun, but the cylinder bore barrel doesn't leave much of a shot string for trap / skeet... I was shooting trap Saturday with mine, you just gotta get'em quick outta the gate!

The mariner is not stainless but has a rust resistant coating.
I like the mossberg tang safety with a regular buttstock but prefer the Remington trigger gaurd style for pistol grip.

If you put a Butler Creek folder on the Mossberg Mariner, do you need to change the forend or does it work with no modifications necessary?

I guess that I am going to have to get this shotgun.
